[Abstract]
SilverStone's Temjin TJ06 may not have a flashy look or blinding blue lights, but its simple and streamlined design is still very attractive. The case's smooth color transitions show SilverSto...

SilverStone employs an open door-design on the TJ06 that keeps the external drive bays exposed. While the exposed design allows for easier access to drive trays and bay inserts, it won't stop an ugly beige drive from ruining the case's otherwise consistent color scheme.

The door swings open on a sturdy rod that extends from the top to the bottom of the case, so it can take plenty of abuse. A standard key lock acts as a latch, holding the door in place when closed.

Opening the TJ06's bezel door gives users access to a pair of fan filters that clean air flowing through the case's 80 and 120 mm intake fans. The fans spin at 2,200 RPM, and according to SilverStone, generate only 21 dBA of noise. Both fans are powered by four-pin Molex connectors and have an additional three-pin header for fan monitoring. Unfortunately, that three-pin monitoring header won?t let a motherboard control fan speeds. Going with four-pin Molex fans ensures that the TJ06 is compatible with systems that don?t have enough three-pin headers to power the wind tunnel, but it would have been nice if SilverStone included power adapters for motherboards with temperature-controlled three-pin fan headers to spare.

The TJ06's front I/O ports have been placed on the left side of the case. There you'll find a single 1394a port, four USB ports, and microphone and headphone jacks. The 1394a and USB headers use standard connector blocks, so they're easy to hook up. The 1394a port also has second set of individual pins that can be arranged to work with non-standard 1394a headers. SilverStone also opts for individual pin connectors for the case's front audio ports, sacrificing ease of connectivity for maximum compatibility.

A view from the rear hints at some of the TJ06's unique characteristics. SilverStone has taken a page from the Apple Power Mac design and flipped the motherboard so the expansion slots are in the middle of the case rather than at the bottom.

Instead of using screws to secure the side panel, the TJ06 uses plastic clips to hold the panel in place. The clips are easier to work with than conventional thumbscrews, which can easily be lost. Unfortunately, the clips don?t provide much security, but the TJ06 has a pair of rings that can secure the side panel with a padlock.
