SilverStone's Temjin TJ06 may not have a flashy look or blinding blue lights, but its simple and streamlined design is still very attractive. The case's smooth color transitions show SilverStone's attention to detail, and those tool-free expansion slots and drive rails are a joy to use.

Disappointingly, the TJ06's fancy wind tunnel is nothing to get too excited about. It had little to no affect on CPU, system, and GPU temperatures, and removing the wind tunnel actually lowered the GPU's ambient temperature. Nonetheless, the wind tunnel may be more effective when used in conjunction with a passive heat sink specifically designed to take advantage of its front-to-back airflow. The wind tunnel may also prove quieter when combined with an auxiliary fan controller that adjusts fan speeds based on CPU or system temperatures. Fan control could also be achieved using a motherboard's temperature-controlled system fan headers and a pair of Molex-to-three-pin power adapters, which SilverStone might want to bundle with the case.

Even though the TJ06's upside-down-ness doesn?t offer any spectacular performance gains, I do like the internal reorganization. The hard drive rack's placement makes hiding cables easier, the processor should get slightly cooler air at the bottom of the case, and the power supply slides in nicely from the outside rather than inside of the system. Still, the internals could use a system exhaust fan. You'll also need a power supply with plenty of cable to reach the power headers on some motherboards.

With a street price of $127, the SilverStone Temjin TJ06 is priced well considering its features. Support for Extended ATX motherboards makes it an excellent choice for workstation and server use, too. For those who don't plan on using an E-ATX motherboard, the TJ06's unique internal layout and potential for passive CPU cooling with the right heat sink have definite appeal. SilverStone Temjin SST-TJ06 Review
