Overclocking
Given the 'Ultra' class of cooling that ASUS has implemented for their V9999GE card, we were hoping that overclocking would be similarly impressive. We were not disappointed as we managed to push the GPU core from its default 350MHz to 395MHz. This was a 12% improvement in raw MHz and approached that of the GeForce 6800 Ultra, which is clocked at 400MHz. The memory speeds top out at 520MHz (1.04GHz DDR) and considering that the Ultra version runs at 550MHz, it was quite decent.
With such promising overclocked frequencies, we had high hopes for the ASUS V9999GE when these raw numbers were translated into benchmark scores. We were not disappointed as the ASUS V9999GE outpaced the GeForce 6800 GT by an average margin of around 5% and we can expect that such results would be duplicated for the other benchmarks.
