Test Setup
Given that the ASUS V9999GE can be considered a souped up GeForce 6800 that ASUS claims is capable of a 25% performance boost over the original GeForce 6800, we will have to see for ourselves if that is true. We will also compare the V9999GE with the GeForce 6800 GT, given that the ASUS card boasts of similar core and memory clock speeds. Finally, a representative from the opposing camp, ATI?s X800 PRO completes our lineup for this comparison.
Our usual test system consisting of an Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz on an Intel D875PBZ motherboard with 512MB of DDR-333 SDRAM in dual channel mode and running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1 and DirectX 9.0c was used for the comparison. The NVIDIA cards were all running ForceWare 61.77 while the ATI X800 PRO was running Catalyst 4.8 drivers. Here is the list of benchmarks for the comparison:
