It's always nice to have a company admit that a product is late, hold their hands up and outwardly say so. When they then go on and outline just why it happened and promise to learn from their mistakes, you get an air of culpability that's extremely rare in this line of business. "We messed up, here's why, we're sure it won't happen again" is rarely heard, but heard it was as I sat down with ATI recently to get the full lowdown on the All-In-Wonder X800 XT, a product that's been on many people's radar since the X800 series of hardware was launched nearly a year ago.

It's not hard to see why, either. Pairing the formidable array of AIW hardware with all the power of a full four-quad R420 has an obvious appeal. You get the gaming performance of X800 XT and the capture and tuning hardware that AIW products have been famous for, for years gone by.

Announced in the middle of 2004, not long after the launch of X800 XT PE, the All-In-Wonder X800 XT has, until today, remained an enigma. Once or twice it has threatened to break cover, only for ATI to go quiet when questions about it were asked after it didn't show up. The NTSC version was let out to retail recently, in North America and similar, with the PAL version getting its first public airing on these very pages today.
