27:18 minutes were needed for a complete decryption and extraction of our 'Matrix' DVD to an *.ISO file. This is no doubt a staggering amount of time for a process that required no longer than 17:51 minutes to complete with the recently reviewed BenQ DW1625 16x DVD writer. The good news here however, is the glitch free extraction, which essentially means the ASUS drive is just as capable as other DVD writers tested with DVD Decrypter in returning perfect archives of your DVD titles.

As far as digital audio extraction was concerned, the ASUS DRW-1608P was not impressively quick at completing this operation. Fastest extraction time recorded for the drive was at 29.8x through Exact Audio Copy and that's slower than the 38x read speed for Audio CD as reported by Nero CD Speed - the speed we were expecting the drive to return.
