Overclocking
There were two clear leaders when it came to overclocking. Sapphire and HIS emerged as the better overclockers, no doubt due to their application of third party cooling solutions from Arctic Cooling and Zalman. Gigabyte was a distant third, just barely ahead of the others and quite commendable in its own right as it used the noiseless heat pipe cooling. The performance gain from overclocking the Sapphire was also quite impressive with a 10% jump in 3DMark03 scores. Certainly, the results seemed to justify the extra cost of the more expensive and exotic cooling favored by HIS and Sapphire, especially with their excellent balance of low noise and heat output.
