Test Setup
For testing the group of RADEON X800 PRO graphics cards, we stuck to our tried and tested AGP graphics card test system, which comprises of an Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz Northwood processor operating on Intel's D875PBZ motherboard and 512MB of DDR333 memory set for dual channel mode. ATI's Catalyst 4.12 driver set along with our test suite listed here was used to judge the performance levels achieved by all cards in the shootout:-

Comprehensive testing was already conducted in our Q3 2004 High-end GPU/VPU shootout article to establish the performance of the RADEON X800 PRO VPU. Graphics cards bearing the same graphics processor however do not vary much (with the special exception that certain RADEON X800 PRO VPUs can be unlocked to harness a 16-pipeline VPU). Therefore, we have reduced our test suite accordingly to relay only the more pertinent results to consumers.
