PowerColor RADEON X800 PRO 256MB

For our shootout, we received the non-VIVO version of the PowerColor RADEON X800 PRO and it appears to be yet another carbon copy of the reference ATI design, save for the PowerColor label on the decorative faceplate. While we are not complaining of the reference design since it is perfectly fine, the difficulty falls upon the various ATI vendors to market the card since they lack a unique identity from adopting the same design. As such, we see products bearing radical and enticing box designs, but the graphics cards themselves remain mostly similar. Similar to GeCube, PowerColor adopted a unique box theme depicting the game that they bundle and in their case it was Hitman: Contracts.

Could this be a case of 'buy a game and get the graphics card free' or the other way around? In any case, the packaging is surely eye-catching to the gamer.

Like the other non-VIVO cards in the roundup, PowerColor too outfitted the card with Samsung 2ns memory parts.

Though the graphics card looks pretty standard, peering into the product package revealed some nice touches. Firstly, PowerColor has supplied a complete cable accessory pack and bagged full marks for that element in our scorecard. Following that, we found CyberLink's DVD Solution bundled, which has programs accomplishing various video related tasks from capturing, editing, authoring, playback and even DVD burning software. For the gaming portion of the bundle, you get Counter Strike: Condition Zero and Hitman: Contracts. All in all, we would have to say it's a dandy bundle.
