Using fast 1.6ns DDR memory components and a VIVO enabled VPU, some of you might be hoping the card to feature more than 12 rendering pipelines but that was not the case in the HIS card. You can still attempt to unlock the remaining four pipelines on your own using the right tools and utilities, but that's clearly voiding the warranty. Moreover, if it's not done right, you could end up with a problematic card that may not be possible to default it back to its original state. Cards of this high-end caliber aren't cheap, so we highly recommend not fiddling around unless you know your stuff. If you really yearn for maximum performance, top up another $100 to $150 and you could get yourself a proper RADEON X800 XT P.E. and a peace of mind.
If there was anything to criticize, the display output quality was the only downside of the HIS Excalibur X800Pro IceQ II VIVO (besides requiring multiple expansion slots). At the resolution of 1600x1200 and occasionally even at 1280x1024, text clarity was found to be just a tad lacking in sharpness. Thankfully it wasn't anywhere as bad as what we observed with the ABIT RX800 PRO at 1600x1200.
