Results ?FarCry (D3D DirectX 9 Benchmark)

Interestingly, FarCry has quite an appetite for graphics frame buffer and the results highlight a near 50% penalty for 128MB RADEON X700 PRO graphics cards; and this was even without FSAA enabled. Given that observation, what's more amusing is that 256MB RADEON X700 PRO cards actually lose out by a notable margin when compared with an NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT equipped with a standard 128MB frame buffer. Fascinating numbers indeed, but lets not go astray since we've already established these figures in our Q4 2004 Performance Midrange GPU/VPU Shootout (PCIe).

Studying the results below, PowerColor again wasn't up to mark. Though the difference in frame rates is small, when translated into percentage, the variance is no longer within our tolerance bracket of similarly configured products. We noted no issues on the other cards. FSAA may be an option that you would want to forego with FarCry as it is rather demanding in nature, but a setting of 2x should still be serviceable by the RADEON X700 PRO VPU.
