Test Setup
Our graphical test system for this NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT comparison was an Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz on an Intel D875PBZ motherboard along with 512MB of DDR333 RAM running in dual channel mode. Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system patched with Service Pack 1 and DirectX 9.0c was used. The cards were using NVIDIA's ForceWare 66.93 and our test suite consisted of the following benchmarks and games:
Futuremark 3DMark03 (ver. 340) Futuremark 3DMark05 (ver. 120) Star Trek: Elite Forces 2 Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo Command and Conquer: Generals GunMetal Demo FarCry 1.1 Doom 3
Although all the graphics cards in our shootout use the same NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT GPU, some manufacturers have differentiated their offerings by having higher default core and memory speeds out of the box. Therefore, note that the cards from ASUS (520/550MHz), Galaxy (525/525MHz), Gigabyte (500/500MHz) and Inno3D (500/500MHz) are clocked faster than the default (500/450MHz) and this should be kept in mind while going through the test results.
