Galaxy GeForce 6600 GT
Galaxy was the only vendor that provided us with a product that had dual DVI connectors for this comparison. This is no doubt a boon for those who possess two LCD monitors with digital inputs or intending to get such a setup. Dual DVI connectors are usually found on higher end graphics cards and we were rather surprised at their inclusion here. Additionally, Galaxy has pre-clocked their card at higher than normal memory and core frequencies. The Galaxy GeForce 6600 GT comes clocked at 525MHz for its core and 525MHz (1.05GHz DDR) for the memory. The full copper cooler used for this card is differs from the reference design and actively cools both the memory and the HSI bridge chip in addition to the GPU itself. It was one of our more quiet cards, producing only a quiet 'whoosh' in operation. Finally, as our temperature tests show (in the later part of the article), the Galaxy GeForce 6600 GT did well in this department, emerging as one of the coolest cards. This was possible even with a one-piece cooling solution because of its elaborate design and extremely tight securing method that ensured excellent contact with the various components. Overclockers would also be pleased to know that its overclocking headroom was decent even when considering the factory overclocking and it was on par with most of the other contenders.
A relatively small and handy box is sufficient for the Galaxy GeForce 6600 GT. |

Galaxy was the only one in our shootout to include dual DVI-I connectors for their GeForce 6600 GT. |
The bundle included the standard accessories, like a DVI-to-VGA adaptor and a 9-pin mini-DIN to HDTV cable. We would have liked another DVI-to-VGA adaptor given that Galaxy had dual DVI connectors but then considering the card, its package and positioning as a whole, it would be greedy to expect more from such a respectable offering. The following are the items we found:
Driver CD Galaxy NVIDIA User Manual Nascar Thunder 2004 Y-power cable splitter DVI-to-VGA adaptor 9-pin mini-DIN to HDTV (component cable dongle)
The cables included are as follows: Y-Power cable splitter, DVI-to-VGA adaptor and a TV-output cable dongle with all the common interfaces (Composite, S-Video, Component). |
